Introducing The Sino x Niio Illumination Art Prizes 2018/9 Winners

We’re delighted to present the results of The Sino x Niio Illumination Art Prizes.

The winning artworks are displayed on the facades of Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui Centre and The Empire Centre until February 2019, creating the largest screen-based digital art installation in Hong Kong.

The competition brought together new, compelling artworks from across the globe, rich in style and concept, pushing boundaries and rendering works that both recognize the future and honor the past.​

 

Category 1 - Artistic Blessing- Festive, Celebration for Christmas

Winner: OneOne by Daniel Belton and Good Company Arts

OneOne invokes a sense of ancient culture, an archetype being unearthed through real-world experience that is timeless and contemporary.

2nd Place: TOUCH by Hermes Mangialardo

Category 2 - New Life- Spring, Blossom for the Chinese New Year

Winner: The Spring Shrine by SuperCyberTown

 

The Spring Shrine representing a world where technology has allowed us to return to our natural surroundings and to find a true Zen space, away from the chaos.

2nd place: Blessing by EPER - Zoltan Varga, Csaba Szabo

Runner ups: 4th perspective by Keren K(twiing), Chronoscope by Bonaventura Sara & New Life by Omar Sangiovanni

As new media art moves beyond the white walls of galleries, it has the potential to engage with a wider audience than previously possible. The open call in collaboration with Sino Group is part of Niio’s aim to reimagine how we experience art and offer untapped potential for immersive art experiences in cities and public spaces.
